Discover Your Creative Side!

Choose a class that inspires you, and dive into the world of creativity.

Working with clay is a process that requires patience. It is impossible to transform a lump of wet clay into a beautifully glazed ceramic work of art in just a couple of hours. To start with there are TWO firings involved. Yes two! Once you have transformed your clay into the desired outcome it must dry before its first “bisque” firing. Once your clay has been bisque fired it is now ready for you to add colorful glazes. The final firing is with these glazes painted or dipped on. There are other techniques as well where you can paint color onto pieces that have not yet been fired. So many wonderful techniques to try out and learn about. Either way, all pieces will undergo TWO firings. Firing a kiln is a process in itself. The kiln is an oven specific for "baking” clay to a certain temperature. The firings can be anywhere from 8 to 12 hours! In our studio we fire pieces up to cone 6. This means the temperature we fire to. That temperature (cone 6) determines what type of clay we can use and glazes we can use. This is why it is very important ALL clay must be purchased from our studio, as well as use of only the glazes we provide.
